Athletics At MRHS

There will be a pre-season parent meeting upon the start of each sports season where specific information will be provided. Additional Information can be found on our Highline Public Schools Athletics page.  Any questions about this sheet should be directed to Ms. James, Athletic Director.

Registration

All students must have an updated physical on file before they can start practice in any sport, including off-season participation. Physical exams are valid for participation for 24 months from the date of the exam. Registration on FamilyID is also required for participation. Please allow 24 hours for review and approval of registration not including registrations submitted after hours or over the weekend.

Athletic Fees

The participation fee for the MRHS Athletics is $50.00 per sport/per season ($25 for students who qualify for free or reduced priced meals). In addition there is a once a year fee for ASB which is $40.00. If you play more than two seasons, your third season is free. Fees can be paid to MRHS at Student Accounts. Fines & Fees must be cleared prior to turnout. Credit Card payment online is available using our online payment portal.

Additional Information

  • All athletes must ride the team bus to and from athletic contests.
  • Students must be present and on time to school in order to practice or play in a game on any given day in the season. Exceptions include school field trips, and absences or dismissals pre-arranged ahead of time by the Athletic Director i.e. Doctor/dental appointments.
  • Practice and game schedules, particularly in the case of winter and spring sports, include school vacation weeks for all teams. Students and families should take this into consideration when students decide to try out for teams that have vacation week game/practice schedules.

Directed Athletics

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

There is a new way to earn PE credit through sports participation. Students participating in sports for the 2017-18 season and on must use the new procedure to earn credit. To earn credit, students must complete a Directed Athletics Form by their sports season specified date. Fall athletes deadline to complete the Directed Athletics Form for fall is October 20th , Winter December 1, and Spring March 9 .

The form can be obtained from the main office, counseling office or students advisory teacher. After obtaining signatures from a parent/guardian, athletic director and physical education department heard, students will gain access to a twelve week online course called Directed Athletics. Additional details explaining how the new process works are explained on the Highline School District Athletes informational handout that can also be provided by the main office, counseling office or students advisory teacher.
