Library FAQs for Students

When can I come to the library?

  • Before school (from 7:30 a.m. to bell), during lunch, or after school (from 2:30 p.m. until closing).
  • During class provided the student has a PROPER LIBRARY PASS, signed and dated by a sponsoring teacher or administrator and with the purpose for visiting checked.
    • If you come to the library without a note during class time WILL BE SENT BACK TO CLASS.
  • With their class for instruction or other activity.

Students coming into the library must sign in.

What are the library RULES?

  • No food or drink in the library—students coming in with food will be asked to leave food in designated areas.
  • No cell phone conversations—turn cell phone ringers off, use earphones.
  • No rough play or behaviors inappropriate to a public space (PDA, running, yelling, throwing items, etc.)

What do I need to check out books?

  • Your Student ID number (or ID card)

  • NO OVERDUE BOOKS!!! If you have an overdue book, you will not be able to check out another book until you have returned the overdue book or paid for the lost one.

How many books can I check out?

However many YOU can be responsible for. I set a limit for 10, BUT I will adjust it if you have shown responsibility toward the materials and request an increase.

Are there late fees for overdue books?

NO. I’d much rather HAVE THE BOOK BACK.

What can the librarian do for me?

  • Get help finding a good book.

  • Get help with RESEARCH projects.

  • Learn how to more effectively and efficiently use digital and print resources.

  • Perhaps teach you something unique, unusual or downright CRAZY you did not already know about.
