GENERAL

Our Mission: 
Mount Rainier High School promotes the growth of every student and seeks to create principled, knowledgeable, and inquisitive graduates empowered to lead productive and caring lives in a global society.

 

Last Day of School

The last day of school has changed from the date originally designated on our 2019-20 student calendar. The state school superintendent has designated June 19 as the last day of school for grades Pre-K through 11. 

The last day of school for high school seniors is June 12. 

 

Email Bouncebacks

If your email messages to teachers are bouncing back or you are not getting a response, your email service may be getting blocked by our district security filter. ParentVUE is a reliable way to reach your student’s teachers. Complete instructions for accessing ParentVUE are on our website.

 

Wifi Resources in the Community

Register to Vote:  will you be 18 by Nov 6th?  You can register to vote beginning May 15th!  Vote for President & elected officials.

HighlineSchools.org has a lot of information and help on the website.  Information is updated often so check it out regularly for the most current information and support.

 

Community Resources

We have added a list of community resources to the district website, including support for rent, utilities, food, mental health, healthcare, technology and more.

 

Student Meals:  Meals are distributed on Mondays & Wednesdays at various spots and times.  See HighlineSchools.org for details, places & times. 

 

We Care & it is Hard for Us, too!!  As Highline Schools Administrators, Teachers and Staff navigate Covid-19 changes with you we want you to know that we miss you and care about you.  We understand change is hard and that there will be more changes as we go.  Please email your Advisory Teacher or any adult staff for support. Staff emails are on the Mount Rainier HS website.  Please also be patient with staff who may have other commitments or difficulties during this time and will get back to you as soon as they can.

Mount Rainier’s school nurse, Karrin Johnson, is available for questions or concerns about student health during regular school hours, 8:00 am-4 pm Mon/Wed/Thurs/Fri at (206) 631-7007 or by email at Karrin.Johnson@Highlineschools.org. Students:  check your school Google accounts regularly.  Teachers are sending assignments to you.  If you or someone you know is not receiving emails from teachers please have them contact their Advisory teacher, Counselor or any teacher they currently have and let them know.  All staff emails are on the Mount Rainier HS website.

 

School Buildings are closed.  There is no access to Mount Rainier at this time.  We do not know at this time when that may change.

This means nothing in and nothing out.  Hold on to school & library books, equipment, sports uniform/gear and other school district items for information on returning them when it is safe to do so.

 

Student Financial Account & Payment Information:  Student accounting information including payments made and fines (not Mealtime Lunch account info) may be found online at HighlineSchools.org; “Students” drop down menu; “Online Payment”, “Touchbase” (blue box under Fines & Fees; LOG IN:  User Name is Student ID # (just numerals) & Password is Last Name with First Letter of last name Capitalized.  No new fines have been posted since March 16 so you will not see fines for most current year items.  Once logged in you may see fines, payments and make payments for fines.

 

Mealtime Account Information:  Log in to your student’s Mealtime account through HighlineSchools.org site under Nutrition Services.  Direct questions to Nutrition Services.  All lunch fund balances will roll over to 20-21 school year for returning students.  Special information for seniors with balances will be coming out in June.

 

SPORTS/CLUBS

 

Yearbooks are coming!  Yes, there will be a Yearbook this year.  Yes, it will look a little different.  No, we don’t know how we are going to distribute them yet.  You will still be able to purchase a Yearbook $ 60 online starting May 11

Directions:  HighlineSchools.org; “Students” drop down menu; “Online Payment”, “Touchbase” (blue box under Fines & Fees; LOG IN:  User Name is Student ID # (just numerals) & Password is Last Name with First Letter of last name Capitalized.  You will need student ID # to sign in.  Click on Student’s Name; “Items at student’s school”; “ASB Membership and Yearbook”; blue “buy” button under Yearbook; at the top you will then see “checkout” which will take you to the payment page.

 

Spring Sports:  Spring Participation Fees paid by parents will be refunded by check and mailed to your home after we are allowed back in our school buildings.

Sports Uniforms and Equipment will be collected when it is safe to do so.

 

Tolo Dance tickets purchased will be refunded by check and mailed to your home after we are allowed back in our school buildings.

 

SENIORS

 

Graduation:  Mount Rainier High School Class of 2020 Graduation will be on Tuesday, June 16th

Seniors and families will be scheduled to rotate through a drive-through graduation ceremony at Mount Rainier High School on Tuesday, June 16. Wearing their cap and gown, each student will receive their diploma cover, get a professional photo taken, and be cheered on by teachers and staff with appropriate social distancing. Students will also receive senior awards, yearbook, graduation programs and Class of 2020 memorabilia.

Last Day of School for Seniors:  Friday, June 12th

 

Josten’s Graduation Update: Distribution of Graduation Items by Jostens will be Wednesday, May 20th at MRHS in the bus drive through loop. NO access to building.  Do not bring school items to return – they will not be accepted at this time.

Drive by pick-up by Last Name: A - I 11am – 12pm; J – R 12pm – 1pm; S – Z 1pm – 2pm; No building access.

$2,500 scholarship (Due date of June 30th)  for students in 9th-12th grades. It's a free and easy application. Students can use the award for any educational-related need such as books or even food. Here is a link to the scholarship page with more details and for applying.
