**Highline District Boundary Change Update:

Changes in school assignments can be disruptive at any time for students.  This is especially true for high school students.  Based on this, and the fact that our numbers of students being moved at high school are relatively small, we have developed a process to allow high school students now in 9th- and 10th-grade who are affected by boundary changes to stay at their current high school through graduation. Students entering 10th and 11th grade in September 2019 will be assigned to their new neighborhood schools under the revised boundaries unless they complete the grandfathering process. Details about the process will be sent to families and published on our website.  The Opt-In Process Information and form is now available on district website.

Current 11th-grade students are automatically grandfathered into their current high school for senior year.

School bus transportation will be provided to all grandfathered students for 2019-20. Transportation in the following two years may be provided through public transportation at no cost to students.

Incoming 9th-grade students living in areas where boundaries have changed will not have the grandfathering option. Students entering 9th grade in September 2019 will be assigned to their neighborhood high school under the new boundaries.

The grandfathering option applies to HHS students identified as highly capable.
