GENERAL

 

Our Mission:

*Snow??  Emergency Information:  The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. The information below will assist parents and families in the event of an emergency. For your own safety and the safety of your child, please do not come to the school to retrieve students unless notified to do so.

In the event of a snowstorm, windstorm, earthquake, threat to campus or other emergency event, Highline Public Schools will implement safety procedures and may change school start or dismissal times for student safety. Here are the ways we communicate emergency information:

•Mobile app alerts and email notifications. Please download Highline's mobile app.

ELPA (English Language Proficiency Assessment):  ELL Students testing Feb 4-8 & Feb 11-14.  Students will be notified their testing times.

 

SAT:  All 11th grade students will take the SAT in Auxiliary Gym on March 6th.  Doors open at 7:30am and close promptly at 8:00.

 

After School Homework Help:  after school homework help and tutoring Monday through Thursdays in room 1509 from 2:30 – 4:30.  The Success Office will be providing snacks.

 

ACTIVITY BUS: Bus will be leaving the bus zone at 4:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Any students that live in the MRHS service area are eligible to ride this bus, and will be brought to their normal stops.  Students that are at MRHS on an in-district transfer, including IB, will not have stops on these routes.  If the amount of students grows, we will have second bus to transport students.

 

**District Boundary Change Grandfather Process/Application:  NEW – students currently in 9 & 10 grade may apply to stay in their current school through graduation instead of moving to their new neighborhood school.  See information on the Highline Schools website for process.  Deadline February 15th.

 

SPORTS/CLUBS

 

Latino Club is selling roses for Valentines’ Day!

Latino Club will be taking orders for roses and mini-bouquets at both lunches through Wed, Feb. 13. Valentine's Day roses will be delivered to students during 5th pd. on Thursday, February 14th. You can order:

- 1 perfect red rose for only $2

- 1 rose mini-bouquet (2 perfect red roses + baby's breath or greens) $5

With the roses you can choose a white heart (friendship); pink heart (crush) or red heart (love) tag which will be attached to the rose.

Bring cash or check and you need to know the 5th pd. class room number of the student/staff member receiving the rose.

Students and staff love receiving these beautiful roses during class for Valentine's Day, so join in our yearly tradition and share the love!

ALSO, on Valentine’s Day, students will be delivering roses during 5th period class.  They will do this quickly so as not to disrupt your class for more than a couple of minutes. Thank you for your understanding.  

 

Pacific Islanders Club Taulsala Luau:  Mount Rainier’s Pacific Islander’s club is announcing its Tausala Luau on Saturday, February 9th at 4:00pm.  All are welcome!  Donations are appreciated!

 

Yearbook Pictures Needed:  Rams, Yearbook need you to help us get more pictures for the yearbook!  Send in your favorite pictures or pictures you want to see in the yearbook.  You can do this by sending them to the yearbook Snap App or by going to www.yearbookforever.com.  You can also come to Room 1215 for help.

 

Spring Sports Begin February 25thBaseball, Softball, Track, Girls Tennis, Boys Soccer.  FamilyID opens 2/4!

Check your physical date on FamilyID or with Mr. Peterson, Athletic Director; check if you have fines (list on bulletin board by bookkeeping); turn in Winter Sport items (if applicable); have parent/guardian sign you up on FamilyID: registration opens 2/4; watch your email for updates.

ASB ($40) & Participation Fees ($50/25) are required to participate in sports.  Students who have paid for 2 sports during the school year do not pay for the 3rd sport – you must tell bookkeeper if this applies to you.

SENIORS

 

2019 Graduation:  Wednesday, June 19th at ShoWare @ 3pm.

 

Senior Yearbook Pictures:  The list is posted on the bulletin board by bookkeeping of all Senior Photos the Yearbook Class received.  Check your name to be sure your special photo is on the list.  Questions?  See Mr. Yousoofian in room 1215.

 

Cap/Gown Orders will arrive here in a couple of months from Jostens.  If you have not ordered, you still can directly through www.RRGrad.com.  Order packets are in the main office.  Pay off any remaining balance before delivery.

 

**Snow??  Possible Delay Start Schedules for Mount Rainier High School:

ONE HOUR DELAY SCHEDULE:  School would begin at 9:00am

TWO HOUR DELAY SCHEDULE:  School would begin at 10:00am

Buses will pick up 1 or 2 hours later than normal and may be on alternate routes

Dismissal is regular time 2:30pm
