GENERAL

Our Mission:
Mount Rainier High School promotes the growth of every student and seeks to create principled, knowledgeable, and inquisitive graduates empowered to lead productive and caring lives in a global society.

Student Meal Assistance for furloughed families:  Households of furloughed employees may be eligible for free or reduced-price meal benefits.  Furloughed families can apply based on their current household income.  Usually free or reduced-price meal eligibility reflects annual income.  However, application of furloughed employees may reflect their current household situation.  Families are encouraged to terminate or update their free/reduced price status when they are no longer facing economic hardship.  The fastest and most secure way to apply is online at www.highlineschools.org/MealBenefits.  If they prefer families can pick-up a paper application at their student’s school office. For more information or assistance, please call Nutrition Services at 206-631-3228 or email anne.slater@highlineschools.org

Clothing Drive:  The Sophomore Class Officers are organizing an old/used clothing drive.  Clothes in GOOD CONDITION for any age group will be collected in Advisory Classes.  Items accepted are:  t-shirts, polos, button-up dress shirts, skirts, jeans, sweatpants, pajama pants, socks, scarves, and hats.  (Do Not Bring undergarments, swimsuits, jewelry, or anything not clothing.)  One advisory will be rewarded with a party for their participation based on items donated.  Last Day to Donate is THURSDAY, JANUARY 31!

ACTIVITY BUS: Bus will be leaving the bus zone at 4:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Any students that live in the MRHS service area are eligible to ride this bus, and will be brought to their normal stops.  Students that are at MRHS on an in-district transfer, including IB, will not have stops on these routes.  If the amount of students grows, we will have second bus to transport students.

In District Transfer Requests Open:  If you want your student to attend a school other than their neighborhood school, you may submit a transfer request by February 1.  Information and Transfer Request Forms are available at www.highlineschools.org.
