We invite staff, students and community members to submit proposals to present.
Highline staff will come together on August 27 and 28 to deepen our learning and understanding about equity. Certificated and classified staff will attend together. All attendees will participate in a session focused on implicit bias and will select an additional session. This is part of ongoing learning that will be connected to throughout the year.
We invite staff, students and community members to submit proposals to present sessions. Sessions will be 90 minutes and can be a panel discussion, demonstration, interactive workshop or other formats. All sessions should provide the opportunity to reflect, learn and deepen the work of equity in our schools, with a focus on racial equity.
We are looking for session topics in the following categories:
Understanding and addressing racism and microaggressions
Culturally responsive teaching that addresses racial equity
Culturally responsive student and family engagement that addresses racial equity
Implicit and explicit bias
White privilege/white fragility
Institutional practices that support racial equity
